‘Through my binoculars’

When it comes to forest walks you’ll (almost) always find me with binoculars. The wonderful Veluwezoom forest provides a habitat for many animal species and binoculars enable a closer look while remaining at a distance they are comfortable with. The encounters vary with the seasons, but regularly I see deer, wild boars, squirrels, hawks, woodpeckers, and Highland cows – just to name a few.

Below you can find a collection of photos taken through my binoculars. A practice called ‘digiscoping’; a notion I came across recently. My ‘digiscoping’ originated as a way to provide ‘proof’ of these wildlife encounters I kept telling my family about 😉, but nowadays I also enjoy this kind of photography for its (lofi) aesthetic quality. I feel like it effectively draws you into the scene.
