Overnight in the sculpture garden of the Kröller-Müller Museum
Recently I’ve had the incredible honour to stay overnight in the sculpture garden of the Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo. The museum had organised a creative contest together with Natuurhuisje, to celebrate the connection between art and nature. Amazingly, my submission was regarded as the most apt expression, making me win a stay overnight in the sculture garden of the Kröller-Müller Museum!
An incredibly unique experience, at a place where I have so many childhood memories.
We slept (or rather: listened to nature’s cooling thunder and lightning) in an artwork by Dré Wapenaar: the Snowgoose (2016-2018). This made it even more special.
After closing time we shared the sculpture garden with natterjacks and other amphibians, the green silver-lines moth, the small copper, bellflowers and many many more beings. It was truly wonderful being amongst both the sculptures and forest creatures.
Here you can find a photo impression of this unforgettable experience, as well as my submission below:

Pyrographic work on wood from the Veluwezoom,
made for the creative contest organised by the Kröller-Müller Museum and Natuurhuisje

I’ve aimed to portray a perspective of looking up in awe; small and full of wonder for the beings around us. It’s a feeling that the sculpture garden of the Kröller-Müller Museum, as well as the National Park of the Hoge Veluwe, spark in me time and time again.
The piece’s dimensions are 47 x 12 x 4 cm (length x width x height)
